Les Dames d’Escoffier is the only organization of its kind: a worldwide philanthropic society of professional women leaders in the fields of food, fine beverage and hospitality.  The invitation-only membership, comprising 45 individual chapters across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Mexico, England, France and Italy, is highly diversified and reflects the multifaceted fields of contemporary gastronomy and hospitality.

Upon being granted the original charter by Les Amis d’Escoffier, the first chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier was founded in New York in 1976. Our Sonoma Chapter was formed in 2020.

There are over 2500 members worldwide including chefs, culinary school proprietors, teachers, culinary historians, food editors, writers, hoteliers, vintners, wine merchants, distillers, restaurateurs, caterers, professors, chocolatiers, bakers, butchers, manufacturers, importers, and purveyors.

At Les Dames Sonoma we seek to build a community of women whose members and partners have diverse cultures, backgrounds, and life experiences because we believe that diverse backgrounds and ideas are crucial to people of all races, language, ethnicity, cultural background, disability, sexual orientation, and religion. We understand that people from different cultures and backgrounds provide unique perspectives and approaches. Leading by example, we aspire to make diversity a core and abiding strength in our organization.

Code of Ethics

In order to uphold the integrity of the organization, our members adhere to the following:

  • Support the Mission/Vision/Guiding Principles of LDEI and abide by the bylaws of  both the organization and her local chapter.

  • Will not use her membership or the name of the organization or her local chapter for her personal monetary advantage.

  • Never allow the membership list of the organization or her local chapter to be sold or used for merchandising, promotional purposes or commercial endorsement outside of the organization and its partners.

  • Sponsor for membership only those individuals known to her to have high ethical standards and professional stature in the area of food, beverage, hospitality and other fields as they relate to these disciplines.

  • Maintain the dignity and integrity of the organization and her local chapter by holding herself to the highest professional standards.

Guiding Principles:

The members of LDEI adhere to Guiding Principles that uphold the integrity, professionalism and outstanding leadership, which our founders originally established for the organization. LDEI is guided in its decisions and actions by:
